5/17/2023 0 Comments Windows 11 upgrade![]() Unless powerful enough, your hardware may still fail compatibility checks, especially if you don’t enable either TPM or Secure Boot, or both. What if Your Computer Is Not Windows 11 Compatible?Īs mentioned above, Windows 11 works only on newer machines, specifically those that came out from 2017 onward, which was when TPM 2.0 became widely available. Microsoft has a utility for checking if your machines meet the system requirements available for download. You can choose not to enable this feature unless your hardware can meet its more stringent requirements, including more advanced processors, 8 GB of RAM at minimum, 64 GB or more SSD, and HVCI-compatible drivers. Also known as memory integrity, HPCI will perform integrity checks to ensure that only signed kernel-mode drivers and binaries can start and reside in system memory. It is also why Windows 11 will run only on newer hardware.Īnother security feature, Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity (HPCI), will impact hardware requirements even more. TPM ensures that the OS will run only correctly-signed UEFI drivers, applications, and OS boot loaders, locking down the system in case it detects anomalies in the signing keys. ![]() The requirement to have TPM 2.0 is part of Microsoft’s thrust to make Windows 11 more secure by default. Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0, Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) 2.0, and Secure Boot.A high definition (720p) display, 9-inch or larger monitor, with 8 bits per color channel.A DirectX 12 or later compatible graphics card with a Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) 2.0 driver. At least 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of available storage.A 1 GHz or faster 64-bit processor with two or more cores or a system on a chip (SoC).Windows 11 system requirements are as follows: If you’re upgrading from Windows 10, make sure to install the latest Windows 10 updates before installing the preview. While Microsoft designed Windows 10 to run on older computers, that effort is not replicated with Windows 11 since the latter is designed to run on hardware released from 2017 onward. What Are the Windows 11 System Requirements? This is the same route open to you if you buy a new PC without any bundled OS or if you’re switching from another OS. Currently, a Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 10 Pro for Workstations license cost $139, $200, and $309, respectively. A new retail license costs anywhere between $139 and $309. You can also upgrade directly from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 11 by buying a retail license, again assuming you have the required hardware. Given that Windows 11 is only a free upgrade for Windows 10 users, you may want to make that long-delayed switch to Windows 10 already if you have capable hardware. ![]() If you’re still using Windows 7 or 8, you can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free (at the time of writing). However, the upgrade process may not be as smooth since Windows 11 is designed for newer PCs. Windows 11 retails around the same price as its predecessor and is available for free to Windows 10 users. While many users made the switch, hardware constraints forced some to remain on the older Windows versions. When Microsoft released Windows 10 back in 2015, it offered the product as a free upgrade, for what was supposedly a limited time, to Windows 7 and 8 users. How much does Windows 11 cost, and what are the system requirements? Here’s all you need to know about the new operating system. In October 2021, Microsoft officially released Windows 11, and users with a compatible laptop or PC can upgrade.

5/17/2023 0 Comments Wifi signal strength![]() ![]() Of course, the spread in throughput is widest for low RSSI values where the connection is less reliable. The graph clearly shows that a single RSSI value can result in a wide range of throughput measurements, even for the same access point! For example, it turns out an RSSI value around -75 dBm on AP6 can result in anything between 5 Mbps and 45 Mbps. However, does this also mean we can predict the throughput based on the RSSI? In other words, can we assess the actual performance of an access point based on the reported RSSI values, like many tools do? Multiple access points (all with similar characteristics) are plotted.Īt first glance, there seems to be a clear correlation between RSSI and throughput: the higher the RSSI, the higher the throughput. The data points show the RSSI values and throughput results for a single Wi-Fi client device on multiple locations. The picture below shows data from such a test. Since we store both the actual throughput result and the RSSI value for each measurement, we can easily correlate the two. These locations are chosen in such a way that the complete RSSI scale (-90 dBm up to -25 dBm) is generally covered. In such tests we measure the real application –layer throughput on a fixed set of locations within a house environment. For example, if a transmitted packet is not acknowledged, some Wi-Fi devices immediately fall back to a lower modulation while others will try to retransmit at the same modulation (and only fall back after some retries).Īll this makes the relationship between RSSI and link throughput a lot less predictable! Reality CheckĪt Excentis, we perform a lot of Wi-Fi throughput testing. While current access points often have three antennas sending at the maximum allowed power, many mobile devices are limited to one antenna and limit their output strength on purpose to save battery energy.įurthermore, just how and when to switch between different modulations varies between Wi-Fi chipsets. Until we start using Wi-Fi access points as smartphones, this is not very likely. To use the RSSI at one side of a link as a metric for the throughput of that link, means assuming the Wi-Fi link is symmetrical. While ‘ full-duplex gigabit ethernet‘ may accurately describe the real-life performance of a wired link, the performance of a single Wi-Fi link may change from 1 Gbps to 1 Mbps and back within a matter of seconds.Īs long as the chosen modulation is based on the received signal quality, RSSI should still be a good metric for performance, right? True, but there seems to be a lot more to the story!įirst of all, RSSI is pure receive-side metric, while modulation happens at the transmitting side. Wi-Fi transmitters constantly adjust their traffic modulation in response to varying conditions, such as changes in attenuation or interference levels. ![]() Since Wi-Fi operates in a rapidly changing wireless environment, it is highly dynamic in nature. Most Wi-Fi access points (or APs) even register RSSI values of all their connected client devices and a lot of popular Wi-Fi planning tools (like Ekahau, NetSpot, TamoGraph and AirMagnet Survey Express) use this signal strength measurements to create heatmaps and predict Wi-Fi coverage and throughput. ![]() This information is then used to give the user some knowledge about the Wi-Fi signal quality in the form of the well known signal bars. Wi-Fi devices continuously measure the amount of power carried by incoming traffic and report it back to the operating system of the device. This signal can be Wi-Fi, a mobile network connection or any other wireless protocol. RSSI is a measurement of the amount of power in a received radio signal. In other words, big investment decisions in Wi-Fi infrastructure turn out to be based on paltry data at best. This blog post will show that the Received Signal Strength Indication or RSSI of a link (which is basically a numeric value for the number of bars) doesn’t correlate well with the throughput that can be achieved on that link. To make things worse, a lot of professional Wi-Fi planning and comparison tools use this same signal strength metric as a substitute for Wi-Fi throughput! We’ve all had situations where 4 or more bars are lighting up, but websites are still loading agonizingly slow. But more often than not, the amount of bars doesn’t give us a good indication of the quality of our connection. To check our Wi-Fi signal reception, we tend to look at the signal notification icon of our devices: the more bars, the better the signal. ![]() For smartURL link shortner (links without a landing page) books, playlists, ecommerce, games, etc.) will be hosted by Linkfire and will be linking to one destination only-the top destination by number of clicks.ī. ![]()
5/16/2023 0 Comments Quote on being tidiness![]() We’re even now being told by some people that it’s a sign of sound mental health. Neatness, we’re told all around, is a sign of care and maturity, of respecting visitors, of ‘making an effort’ neatness is a sign of clarity, organisation, and efficiency. And while we are no longer Futurists, we have taken up one of its central imperatives. With dustless, metal streets and myriad other assaults on earth’s untidy organic matter, the future the Futurists dreamed of was a site where everything both had its place and was in it. Words such as ‘order’ and ‘clean’ and verbal phrases like ‘cleaning up’ and ‘clearing out’ are reiterated like mantras in the writings of Marinetti and his shiny-helmeted associates. Manifestos of tidy sometimes come from unlikely places, and may emerge in the literature of the avant-garde just as easily as they do in Life Strategies by Dr Phil.įew modern movements subscribed to the credo of ‘neat, clean, and tidy’ more earnestly than the Italian Futurists did. But sometimes the advocates of tidy get more motivated, more organised, more sympathetic to pamphleteering and the distribution of manifestos. Mostly the imperative has been handed on as part of an oral tradition – of childhood encouragements, cautionary tales, and admonishments. It is hard for me to be neutral about tidy.īecause tidiness, of course, isn’t just about how things might be or currently are – it’s about how things should be. My year master said my handwriting looked like that of ‘a child pretending to write while still not really knowing the alphabet’. It’s now hard to comprehend how this is even possible. ![]() In high school, I almost failed geography on neatness grounds alone. (My own attempts to do this had repeatedly failed, and I reliably ruined books with my incapacity to ever lay flat the adhesive plastic.) But my early-year resolutions were always undone I would revert to my old ways, eroding my resolution one dishevelled act at a time. ![]() I was the boy whose pants would tirelessly eject his shirttails, the boy with a bird-nest bouffant, with long, dirty nails at the end of inky blue hands, carrying a time capsule school bag filled with crumbs, crayon particles, and buttered cling wrap.Įvery year I’d buy new highlighters and coloured folders and get my friends to cover all of the new schoolbooks in ConTact. Even after its recent demographic realignment, its martinetish overtones remain, and I am duly haunted. But this has changed, and the word is now doing good trade among my peers. Rather, it was a term – usually a verb, sometimes a noun or an adjective – used by adults to address children, who were directed to tidy their rooms or desks, or to make themselves look ‘neat and tidy’ for someone or something. Until recently, my sense was that ‘tidy’ wasn’t a word much used in adult conversation. 5/16/2023 0 Comments Ulead gif animator 1.5Once open, choose 'File’, 'Open Video File’ and then choose your video from where ever you save your videos. Eve asks where he learned to speak, and Satan shows her the Tree of Knowledge. Satan, in the form of serpent, finds her working alone and starts to flatter her. Satan was one of the top angels in heaven and did not understand why he should bow. Satan first sin was pride, when he took issue with the fact that he had to bow down to the Son. While there, he narrates how Satan came to fall and the subsequent battle that was held in heaven. Raphael goes down to the Garden and is invited for dinner by Adam and Eve. God, seeing how things are going, sends Raphael to warn Adam and Eve about Satan. Gabriel finds Satan in the Garden and sends him away. Uriel, however, has realized that he has been fooled by Satan and tells the angel Gabriel as much. This feeling soon turns, however, to hatred. For a moment, he deeply regrets his fall from grace. Satan makes his way into the Garden and is in awe at the beauty of Eden and of the handsome couple of Adam and Eve. Uriel is impressed that an angel would come all the way from heaven to witness God's creation, and points the Garden of Eden out to Satan. Meanwhile, Satan disguises himself as a handsome cherub in order to get by the angel Uriel who is guarding earth. God then makes his Son the king of man, son of both man and God. God agrees and tells how his Son will be born to a virgin. His Son offers to die a mortal death to bring man back into the grace and light of God. God tells his Son that, indeed, Satan will corrupt God's favorite creation, man. God witnesses all of this and points out Satan's journey to his Son. Satan then travels through chaos, and finally arrives at earth, connected to heaven by a golden chain. Sin agrees to open the gates for her creator (and rapist), knowing that she will follow him and reign with him in whatever kingdom he conquers. Satan takes off to the gates of hell, guarded by his daughter, Sin, and their horrible son, Death. His fallen army unanimously agrees by banging on their swords. Satan volunteers to explore this new place himself and find out more about man so that he may corrupt him. Beelzebub suggests that they seek revenge against God by seducing man to their corrupted side. Man is not as powerful as the angels, but he is God's chosen favorite among his creations.
